It started with wanting a casual way to practice Morse code right in a web browser. But when I actually went looking, I couldn't find anything that felt right. So I decided to just build it myself — that's how Morse Da began.
It started as a simple receiving practice tool, but as I used it myself I kept adding features whenever I felt the need — "I want to use this on my phone too," "I want to practice sending as well," "I want to compare scores with others on a ranking." It's still being updated little by little.
The thing I cared about most while building Morse Da was making it usable by beginners without confusion. I kept the UI simple so that someone who just started practicing CW can jump straight into practice without fiddling with complicated settings.
Beginner Mode shows the Morse code for the character currently being sent, in real time, right on screen. So the moment you think "I heard that, but what code was it?" you can check immediately, letting you memorize the codes while practicing at the same time. Callsigns and RST reports are generated in the same format used in real contests, so you get practice that feels like the real thing.
It's also optimized for touch so it works comfortably on smartphones, letting you casually practice Morse code during a commute or any spare moment.
Since I'm still learning CW myself, I plan to keep adding whatever features I wish existed as I practice. I'd be happy if this helps anyone else who wants to practice contest CW the same way.
